RetrofitWorks appoints Tony Beer as new Managing Director

March 23rd, 2022

RetrofitWorks is delighted to welcome new Managing Director, Tony Beer. The appointment follows the news at the end of 2021 that founder, Russell Smith was stepping back from the operational aspects of RetrofitWorks to focus on specific initiatives that will deliver greater value for Members and Communities.

Well-known retrofit expert and experienced Service Project Manager, Tony, is re-joining the organisation having previously held the role of Service Delivery Manager before spending time at Eon. His demonstrable expertise and passion for the environmental services industry, including sustainable development, operations management, sustainable business, biomass and carbon management, mean Tony is perfectly placed to lead RetrofitWorks as it continues on its upward trajectory.

Russell Smith comments: “I’m delighted to welcome Tony back to the organisation as Managing Director. The timing could not be better. From our early days of workshops and consultations with hundreds of SME contractors, designers, charities, local authorities, community energy coops from right across the country, RetrofitWorks has now emerged as a strong, independent, influential organisation that represents its two kinds of cooperative member in the emerging retrofit marketplace as it seeks to find its feet towards genuine scale.
“And now, as RetrofitWorks has a strong operations team, a dedicated and representative Board, a long-term order book, and very excitingly, emerging opportunities to work with communities across the UK, it is time for a new kind of leader to take the organisation into its next phase. We’re excited that Tony is that new leader.”

Tony comments: “I’ve had the greatest respect for RetrofitWorks over the years and have worked closely with Russell and the team for a long time. Russell has been inspirational in the work he has done to champion the retrofit sector, as well as making RetrofitWorks the brand it is today. I’m excited to be entrusted to continue to take us forward. We’re stronger than ever, have some incredible experience and lessons in our locker, and we continue to capture the imagination of communities up and down the country that want to make accurate and fast progress towards a zero-carbon world. One of my first priorities for the team is to make every business’ involvement in domestic eco refurbs and retrofit projects run as smoothly as possible, matchmaking the right business with consumers who want to improve their homes. I am looking forward to capitalising on the emergence of retrofit to make it more accessible, impactful and equitable for local businesses and communities alike.”
