Our History

Our story

Shaping Retrofit’s future

RetrofitWorks was founded in 2013 with a clear mission: to create healthier, more energy-efficient homes across the UK. What began as a small cooperative driven by a passion for sustainability has grown into a leading force in the retrofit industry. Our journey started with a simple yet powerful idea—bringing together like-minded professionals, suppliers, and community groups to tackle the pressing issue of energy inefficiency in homes.

Over the years, we have expanded our reach, developed innovative solutions, and built a network of trusted members committed to making a difference. From our first successful retrofit project to becoming a key player in the UK’s journey towards Net Zero, our story is one of collaboration, innovation, and unwavering commitment to our mission.

Leading the next wave of retrofitting

To stay at the forefront of the retrofit revolution, RetrofitWorks is actively launching new initiatives that address the latest challenges and opportunities in the industry. A major focus has been on workforce development, where we are partnering with training providers to upskill tradespeople in the latest green technologies, including low-carbon heating and smart home systems. This effort not only improves the quality of our projects but also supports the creation of green jobs, contributing to the UK’s broader sustainability goals. We are also piloting community-based retrofit schemes designed to make large-scale retrofitting more accessible, particularly in low-income and hard-to-reach areas.

Sustainability and social impact

At RetrofitWorks, sustainability is at our core. We go beyond energy-saving installations, ensuring every project benefits the environment and society. By collaborating with local installers, we minimize our carbon footprint, support local economies, and use sustainable materials and renewable solutions to reduce emissions.

We also advocate for energy efficiency policies and design projects that cut energy costs, enhance comfort, and improve well-being. Through social initiatives, we fight fuel poverty, uplift communities, and champion sustainable living.
