RetrofitWorks, the not-for-profit co-operative, is delighted to announce it is starting up a new one-stop-shop retrofit service called Your Home Better to cover Greater Manchester. This news follows hot on the heels of RetrofitWorks’ recent announcement that it has been appointed to manage the £40m planned investment to improve the energy efficiency of Greater London homes, as part of the Mayor of London’s Warmer Homes programme.
RetrofitWorks Managing Director, Tony Beer comments: “What we’ve been describing as the Retrofit Movement is really starting to gather traction as this latest initiative shows. We’re delighted to be bringing our knowledge and expertise to the North of England. The Your Home Better service is supported by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority and the Mayor’s Office and delivered by a consortium of partners led by RetrofitWorks and including RED Co-op, Parity Projects, Lendology, B4Box, SHAP, Q-Bot, Flexitricity, Creative Concern and the University of Salford.
“We expect to launch and mobilise during June and will initially focus on the 31% of Greater Manchester homeowners who are willing to undertake some form of retrofit in the next five years with the right assurances and support. Our work feeds directly into Greater Manchester’s Energy Plan to decarbonise existing homes and buildings and the region’s ambition to be carbon neutral by 2038, and it will help deliver its Local Industrial Strategy by creating new green industries and jobs that make the most of our outstanding research assets and large low carbon goods and services sector.”
Heading up the Your Home Better is RetrofitWorks’ Phil Cameron who comments:
“Your Home Better is an independent advice service that provides advice, planning and support to reduce both the costs and carbon emissions associated with home energy use and heating. We can deliver a ‘whole house’ plan to assess homes and provide homeowners with a bespoke plan – giving them information about how their home’s energy performance can be upgraded, what needs to be done and in what order. The roll out of the Your Home Better programme will also aim to deliver savings and potential collective revenue through deployment of photovoltaics combined with battery storage.
“As energy prices soar and security of supply becomes increasingly volatile, carrying out home energy retrofit can put people in control of their own energy supply. Your Home Better will find the most impactful and cost-effective ways to keep people’s homes comfortable, energy efficient, and reduce bills in the long run.
“This is fantastic opportunity for contractors, especially builders, retrofit coordinators and retrofit assessors, to join us to help make the service a success. Your Home Better offers great potential for reliable, long-term business opportunities for like-minded, retrofit focused businesses and individuals in the North West.
